Apart from financial spread betting there are also many bookmakers that allow spread betting on sporting or political events.
For instance, you could place a spread bet for a football match based on various things such as the number of goals or bookings. Bets can be opened or closed both before and during the match as the spread offered by the bookmaker will move during the course of the game.
Other sports that you can place spread bets on include cricket, rugby, motor racing, horse racing, golf and tennis.
Political spread betting can take the form of a bet on the percentage share of the vote that a party might win at an election.
